Instructors also felt the need to lift the bar of the industry’s professionalism with qualifications and a specific code of practice. This was designed to make martial arts safer and more attractive to consumers. It was also important to gain greater credibility from a professional body that is recognised by the industry, (associations / clubs / instructors / the corporate sector / government departments etc).

The MAA now has one of the most recognised instructor accreditations in the country, which promotes consumer confidence to choose a MAA member club.

Many of the most experienced, qualified and recognised martial artists both in Australia and around the globe are current / past members and contribute to the association. This means everything we have created and continue to create and share, have been developed by the highest level of expertise.

Changes to our industry by government (qualifications / OH&S laws etc), that may impact on the way schools operate, can now be monitored and acted upon by a united voice. This can be used to defend against issues detrimental to our industry. With over 3000 clubs, we can call upon a very large united voice and the more instructors that continue to join, adds to our ability to protect our industry.

We wanted to make the membership subscription affordable for all clubs to register so we made it from as little as $100 per year with two other levels that include further benefits. There are many professional industry body memberships that charge more than our annual fee, on a monthly basis.

Our entry level membership includes discounts on all services, an instructor accreditation, business resources (waiver / incident reporting forms, operational / marketing manuals / web banners / posters etc) to protect and market your club. You also get a FREE Business magazine, mini website club listing, regular newsletters and invites to events.

Road-Testing Products & Services is another very useful benefit of membership. MAA have spent countless hours researching insurance, software packages, billing companies, website designs, video production and many other technologies so you save time and money finding the right products for your business.
